To Althea from Prison

(images from ffffound)

"If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free,

Angels alone that soar above,

Enjoy such liberty."

-from To Althea from Prison,
lines 29-32, by Richard Lovelace

This is signifying a love of freedom...If one soul is free we are as free as birds.

He was writing to his love from prison and his message was that even though he was in prison, they can't imprison his mind or heart. I think that things in our culture today "imprison" us and we have to learn to not take our freedom for granted and even though we may feel imprisoned by things going on in our culture we have to remember that we are solely ourselves and have to EMBRACE OUR INDIVIDUALITY.
